![]() A couple of days ago, Mud Honey's latest release included these fantastic new 'Photobles.' These are a fantastic idea for bloggers so I had to sneak a peek and came home with the Glam Girl Photoble. (I am pretty sure these have been blogged already, but some things definitely need to be blogged more than once.) Having an entire scene easily rez/derezzable is a huge help when I want to get a different look for my pictures without wandering around SL too much. Its a lot faster, and keeps you all from having to see my garden areas over and over. Trust me, perks all around. The Photoble comes with a few different options, but I left it as it stands when you rez it. There are currently two of these out at the shop, stop by and pick one up. They are fantastic and I am really looking forward to the next ones that come out! ![]() The Photobles all include poses for you to use, or you can do as I did and just use what you have on hand. I used a pose from Diesel Works, one from Persona and finally one from Striking Pose as well, for these shots. I dug deep into my inventory and found this cute pink dress from Skin Flicks, but it happens to be sleeveless. I have no idea why, but I tend to not feel as comfortable with my shoulders uncovered. Which is weird because, this is SL for pity sake! To solve the issue I pulled out the black sequined cover up from eLDee. The hair is one of the new ones from Truth, fluffy and really adorable, while the shoes are an older pair from Maitreya. ![]() The weekend is coming to an end pretty quickly here, I didn't get nearly as much as I had wanted done and look, even the LOTD posts without a lot of rambling didnt get done. Shame. Nothing much else going on, I hope everyone has a great weekend and a fantastic week! I normally have this really, horrible bad habit in SL. When I come in and know that I intend to make a blog post, I will go out and shop for an outfit instead of just hunting through, mixing and matching, and reworking the things I already have. When I do that, I not only buy one or two things for a blog post, but a handful of others that ultimately will just sit in my inventory, never to be worn or seen again. The problem seems to be so many amazing designers, and so many new releases that it takes a lot of shopping to keep up. When I was newer, and I am talking 2005, 2006, and the like, it was so much easier. There were only a few designers that I was completely in love with and they weren't doing new releases every single week so I had time to save my money, or earn more. ![]() I don't have the time, or the inventory space, to shop like I used to. That doesn't seem to stop me most days! This week I kept control and dug deep into my inventory. I came up with this absolutely adorable dress by eLDee that had been sitting in my inventory for a while. I didn't exactly like the thin straps and started looking for a shrug and found this fantastic, partially off the shoulder cardigan, sweater by Coco. It was a great look for the amazingly sweet hair by Truth and one of my favorite shoes (owned in many colors, thank you so much) by Shiny Things. Shiny Things is another of my loves, the shoes make me squeel, footless as they are. ![]() Over the years since I first joined SL (Feb 2005, it seems so long ago) designers have had such vast improvement I almost don't ever look at the items I bought so long ago. At the time I thought they were amazing, and in many ways I still do. Those key pieces, parts, memories even, all of which were transferable before the bulk of copying and such started. See, in reality, Dina could be considered an 'alt' even though she is the only avatar within SL that I will play. The first character sits there, cold and neglected, simply because I wanted to start over with a new 'doll' a couple of years ago. However, my use of an alt differs greatly from the way many might use one...and I consider her my main, one and only, avatar. That isn't to say I didn't consider moving to another alt, a new avatar and starting fresh, back when tidbits of drama flopped into my life. I even attempted to talk someone else into going with me. I strongly debated it for a few days, mainly out of frustration I believe than the need to run away and hide again. I have always told people "What you see is what you get" with me, so why change that? Some people use an alt to run away from situations they would just rather not deal with, like I almost did. Some people, however, use them to begin attacking people, manipulating them and showing off to others who see them and their behavior (which would normally be deemed inappropriate if it had been done on their more public 'main' account, or could ruin their business, the list goes on and on), as well as to otherwise hurt or cause harm. In this world of great anonymity, its a little disheartening to look around and wonder just who you may be talking to. I lurk a lot on plurk, sometimes its just best to sit and watch, observe and learn about others. A phrase I saw a while back has stuck with me and rings so very true in regards to alts and the people that use them to say things they wouldn't as themselves. Granted, this was said in response to a back stabbing friend, and it certainly applies to them as well, but when it comes to alts and the friends that might be hiding behind them? "I would rather have a true enemy, than a fake friend." ![]() Again, in a world where you can be anonymous in so many ways, its easy to put yourself out there as one personality: Perfectly kind, never says a harsh word to a soul, and surrounded by friends and a successful business. All while using an anonymous alt to: Rip the same people apart, ruin their businesses and let out all the aggression you withhold on your 'perfect' avatar. I have to wonder what kind of real life a person might have, what might be causing them such discontentment to have multiple alternate accounts on networking sites or within SL. So many accounts that no matter how many times they are banned, they can turn around the next day and begin their assault again. Yes, I do indeed see this type of behavior as assault. Verbal assault, hands down. Especially if they have to use account after account to come in and slam a person down that has one, nothing to do with them any more nor even mentioned them and are two, actually sharing how happy they are. If someone sharing that they are happy causes you enough grief that you feel the need use an anonymous account to poke at them, then I would highly suggest a new hobby or form of entertainment because you are then taking this one far too seriously. This entire rambling post stems from my being attacked on a plurk by Sands, simply to get to him. I find that low, and only a coward with no life would come out and attack a person someone loves in order to get a reaction out of them. Sadly for the troll, I don't take it personally. Some people cant help their issues, and I won't take offense for them, especially since its blatantly obvious how clueless people, and their alts, really are. The best part is every attack just brings us closer, strengthens our bond and phases us less and less with each wave. Thick skin, and all that jazz. Granted, there are other uses for alts, I wont deny that. Business alts, alts for pleasure, alts for fun, alts for....ok lets just leave it at: there are other reasons for alts. I just wish that however someone might choose to play your alt, you take care of how your behavior and actions affect other people. As for me, myself and I, we are all going to stay on one avatar from here on out, just as I have since I let go of my first Second Life. Who has time for anything else? As it is it took me all day to write out this blog post, between RL and spending some time with Sands on his weekend, I hardly have enough time for everything I want to do as me. Though, that reminds me, I have had a fabulous last couple of days. The only reason I am not looking forward to Friday is because Sands has to work. Nasty habit, that. I'm still sitting in skype with him, get a bit more time too, and I miss him already. Lucky for me I get to wake him up in the morning! Have a great Friday everyone, and your alts too! ![]() The debate this Friday, just a simple LOTD or put my fingers to the keys and ramble about any ole thing that comes to mind. I seriously should start a new blog for my non-sense rambling, but since I don't exactly have the time to keep up with that many blogs, you are stuck! Oh shame, I'm sorry! This has been a pretty good week, to be honest, even if it did start out a lil bit bumpy. Though trash day is Thursday around here, I took the trash out early in the week and with less toxic waste in my life I feel like 'this house is clean' and I couldn't be happier about it! I am once again focusing at least a small portion of my SL time to doing the same with my inventory, even going so far as to delete entire folders of certain designers clothing because in all honesty, if I know I am never going to wear it because its not me, or not created well, why hold onto it? It just means I am having to shuffle through more junk to get to the things I actually like, and those things just arent getting worn. With an inventory like this, that is a lot of stuff just sitting there unused and well, thats just unacceptable! I believe I first logged into SL today to go look for a better skybox, peeked into my panted outfit folder and just tossed this on but I absolutely love the look. The flipped up collar leaves a bit to be desired, I keep wishing I could flip it down, but this adorable shirt and pants from eLDee is very much *me*. It comes in a variety of colors, both the shirts and the pants, with prim pieces for the sleeves and that collar. I'm wearing a hair that, quite honestly, I love but it just doesn't work with my dash board bobble sized and shaped head. Maitreya creates fabulous hairs, I simply cannot wear them. A bit of a good angle and this one worked well enough though! I think its the forehead I don't handle well, I prefer hair with bangs and it is really rare that I find a hair bangless that I can wear. The shoes are, of course, Shiny Things, the bag is from LeLutka and one of the only half a dozen bags I even own. Instead of hunts, I should shoe/jewelry/bag shop. This sounds like a really good plan for Friday afternoon or the weekend! In all honesty, I have two 'weekends'. One in the middle of the real week that I get to spend with Sands, and quite frankly that goes by too fast and is too short. This past 'weekend' with him was amazing and I am a lil bit sad today that it was over so quickly. After having him in my ears for so long, it seems so quiet now. Poor guy though, stuck with me rambling in voice! Even after hours in skype he still keeps calling, and texting....I suppose being stuck with me isn't so bad after all! I must be doing something right to have so much of his undivided attention, when you find something that is just 'right' its...amazing. Yep, thats my first weekend, then the other is the real weekend that I spend so deeply buried by RL that I hardly see the light of an SL day! I will keep trying to sneak in a LOTD, and curse you all with a bit more rambling. Who just groaned?! All kidding aside, I hope that everyone has a fabulous Friday night and that your weekend is filled with happiness and fun times with those you love...RL, SL, and every L in between! Be warned, I am on the hunt for a new skin, random demo-toting images to come. That is, in between my own hours of escape with people that *I* love. Its nice to be surrounded by only them, its going to be a great weekend again! Labels: Avanista, eLDee, Lelutka, Maitreya, Redgrave, Second Life, Shiny Things, SL |

Since I am rather sure that 99% of the people that look at the feeds or check blogs for Second Life never read a single word that is posted alongside the photos, I always debate just how much 'text' is required per blog post. Lately I have had a lot I want to say. About Second Life, fashion there in, and the people that are consistently obsessed with the feeds and the going on's of other residents. Would there even be a point? Is anyone really listening to anyone else? Then I realized, its my blog. Why do I censor what I write in my own blog? Why do I sit and hold concern for what other people are going to say, think, or do because of me expressing my own thoughts and opinions about this virtual world? Another realization, right now? I don't. My SL and life period has changed in so many ways the last few weeks that I have a new outlook on the way I behave, and the way I let others behavior affect me. If you detect a change in direction with my blog, that would be why. I don't often find myself alone in SL anymore. Rylan was keeping me company yesterday when I snapped these photos, though she was just out of snapshot range when I took them. I honestly have no clue who the person is on the piano in the distance, but I think that's how most of us spend our time in SL. Just a short distance away from someone we may or may not ever meet, who may or may not change our SLives for ever. At any single moment of your time in SL, you could be walking into a room, or standing near someone who could ultimately bring out the worst, or the very best in you. Someone who may have noticed you for some time, or a stranger that will in a short time mean the world to you. What experiences and passions do so many miss, by not paying attention to what others are saying, doing, and feeling? I don't even expect answers, as again, 99% of the people that even come across this entry won't read a single...tiny...word. After a bit of a break from being snapshot happy, I have begun capturing some of my most treasured moments in Second Life again, and of those around me. The above shot is one of my closest friends within Second Life and her new love. They didn't realize I was sneaking pictures, and to me this was just perfect. Stolen whispers, hidden away from the world, finding each other even though the odds were against it. These are the rare moments when you get to lose yourself in someone else, and find they are lost within you as well. I swore to myself I would never find that in Second Life, not after past pain, and walled myself away. Luckily, he didn't know that, came in, blew away my defenses and has become my everything. The world has changed. While it seemed against him, he found me, pulled me in, consumed me, and let my heart mend his. He let me see myself through his eyes, and saw himself in mine. Even though the words are weak compared to what we have, I love you Sands, I don't care what the world says anymore. We balance each other in ways that most people will never understand. Even if they are looking at me thinking I've gone crazy, or try to pull me away or fill me with doubt, I only see you. So, even though I know again that most people won't read a single word I have typed, its here. The blog will have a new look in the next couple of weeks and contain more random fashion posts, mingled in with all of the normal rambling and such. Time for a little bit of an adventure, come along or get lost behind, its my turn.
