Grand Illusion...

Tomorrow, December 17th, [42] and Grand Illusion will be hosting a duo of fun wintery holiday events for everyone to help us celebrate the opening of our sim. To help spread a bit more holiday cheer, we are having our first ever Frosty Find hunt! The above Frosty will be hidden all over the sim for you to find and will be filled with gifts brought to you by both [42] and Grand Illusion! Skins, a shape, eyes and so much more will be spread around the sim. We hope you will be able to join us for either our casual event at 2-4pm SLT or 7-9pm SLT for our formal holiday dance. Mandy will be DJing and taking your requests, come sit on Santas lap, skate on our rink and find as many hidden Frostys as you can!

Fair warning, this post is a bit more picture heavy than I normally do, but I wanted to get a good gathering of shots for you this morning. I also don't often do skin reviews but I figure now is as good a time as any to start! I have always tinkered around with the idea of getting skin demo's and playing with a shape to see if I can come up with a face that I like to go with any skin. I am extremely picky about how my face should look, so its a bit of a challenge. I like a good challenge.

The above pictures, however, have other items to include of course. This is a dress and shoes I picked up from Pixel Mode last night during the sale they have going on. Luckily for me I had purchased a large portion of their line the last time they did a sale so I only needed to pick up a few things here and there. All fabulous pieces, be sure to sneak by if you haven't already.

On to the skins! This is the fugue skin line released by [42] and currently only findable at the skin and shape expo! I have yet to find enough time to wander through the entire thing but am planning to do so shortly. In the majority of the images here I am wearing fugue in neutral and adore it! Each skin comes mod/copy/trans with optional down there hair and freckles. I love the freckles! They come in 6 skin tones ranging from goth white all the way to dark. For a preview of how these skins look check out the [42] booth, you don't want to miss them!

Also not shown, but findable at the fair, is a special return of the Fukumi skins previously released as a group gift. They were not widely distributed so being able to get them now is awesome! They are being sold as a package of 4 skins and a shape with half of all proceeds going to charity, but are only available in pale and neutral. Afordable skins and a good cause, I encourage everyone to stop by the [42] booth as you travel through the skin and shape expo this year.

The designer of [42] sent out this gift to the stores group, this is going to be the only place and time you can get this awesome shirt in both male and female versions! Soon they will be releasing more shirts so you will just have to stay tuned and make sure not to miss out. Currently they are having an amazing sale, everything just $42L! If you have not yet checked out [42], this is *the* time to go!

I've dressed my SL in purple today in support of those fighting cancer. Ironically I remember talking to my mother in law, years ago, about her battle with cancer and her recovery and I asked how she was able to get through it without having moments of panic. I was surprised by her strength and her determination not to let it get the better of her. Luckily she had a fabulous amount of support with her friends and family, and has been cancer free for some years. Even though I am unable to financially support RFL as much as I would like, this is a simple way we can all show support for the amazingly strong people that are battling with cancer every day. Dress your SL in purple today, and show your support as well!

Even with great distractions each week [42] continues to release beautiful quality skins at amazingly decent prices. This last release, of course, is no different. I never buy a skin with freckles, typically they stand out a bit more than I prefer, however this set of freckled fancy were light enough that I actually enjoyed being a freckled avatar. Dressed in an outfit purchased at Emo City, I took on the personality of a spirited highland lass for the day. Appropriate this month, of course! Last I have the pose I promised in a previous blog entry by Diesel Works. This pose is currently available at their shop for only 50L and is reported to be the first in a series. As you can see, I had a bit of a black and white kick going on for a while. Don't worry, color will be returning soon.

I still remember the first time I saw a gown from Silent Sparrow, long ago when they had a space in someone else's store. Its been years since I purchased that gown, and I still have it, adore it, wear it. I have to plan my trips to Silent Sparrow very carefully, or run the risk of spending every last L I have there. While lurking and plurking (I know) I saw mention of the latest release and as my L balance began to cry, I just couldn't resist a little bit of indulgence. I am sure the handful of purchases I made will end up on my Flickr feed in the coming weeks. The best part is I only browsed through three of the rooms, I know there is more that I have been coveting so a return trip is in the not so distant future.

Featured for my poses today I am using the latest release by Diesel Works. I adore the personality and bit of attitude each of these poses entail, be sure to drop by the store to see the full set and pick up the first of a new couple pose series for only 50L (image to come soon!). Also featured is a skin from [42], one of my favorite skin designers in SL. This particular skin is from the Dark Matter series, in neutral. Anytime I am looking for a skin based on theme or mood, these are the skins I turn to. She never fails me! Last, to sum up the entire look I chose a pair of ankle boots from Lassitude and Ennui. Its been a while since I have visited them but I always look for an excuse to wear these shoes lately.

Once I had gathered what I was wearing and poses, I was on the hunt for a good location this morning for a few decent shots, somewhere new. I was glancing through one of the feeds (I tend to do this when left alone to my own wanderings, its never good to leave me alone) and saw mention of Tableau. I love the new build and will be returning to shop soon, for this series I wandered off away from the shops into a small gathering of trees and was rather pleased with the results. I could easily spend far too much time here taking pictures, be sure to stop by and visit them!
